Full HD Movie (50i/50p)
Leave Full HD movie shooting to Cyber-shot!

Make beautiful Full HD AVCHD movies with ease.

Discover the Cyber-shot that gives you high-definition (HD) movie shooting with high-quality images, taking advantage of Full HD AVCHD (1920 x 1080/50i) capability. Regardless of shooting mode, just pressing the exclusive MOVIE button starts HD movie shooting anytime. Thanks to MPEG-4 AVC/H.264 compression efficiency, movie images look smoother than ever before. The camera also provides extremely handy Dual Rec*, so you can take still pictures anytime — even during movie-shooting — using the separate shutter button. Try Dual Rec for yourself!

* Not supported when shooting movies with progressive-scan (PS) mode.

Capture the action using the first digital still camera with progressive-scan (PS) mode.

Sports events. Kids at play. Animals in motion. Here’s the first Cyber-shot — in fact, the first digital still camera — that gives you full HD precision-image movie-shooting capability with progressive-scan video (PS mode). Using this newly supported mode, you can capture fast-moving subjects as ultra-precise, smooth movies and extract HD still images of special moments without losing detail.

Note: Images are simulated.

Your enjoyment continues after making movies.

When shooting is done, you can make the most of playback editing and expanded storage thanks to AVCHD format.* View movie footage taken with this camera on TV, PC, PS3, and BD recorder. Extract still images from movie footage you’ve already shot, using PMB (Picture Motion Browser) image management software. Edit movie footage effortlessly with PMB and Sony’s original VAIO Movie Story, as well as third party software, including Adobe. And, just insert a Memory Stick with AVCHD movie footage* into VRD-MC6 / MC10** DVDirect (sold separately) to easily produce DVD discs with HD movie footage (playable on BD player/recorder) without using a PC.

* AVCHD supports only 50i (interlaced-scan mode) footage. When a 50p (progressive-scan mode) movie is taken with PS mode, you can not make use of some of the AVCHD advantages.
** If you own Sony-made DVDirect (DVD writer), please make sure that its firmware is the latest version: https://www.sony.jp/dvdirect/
