For owners of Network Walkman, we offer “NW-E405/E407/E505/E507 firmware upgrade program” download service.

We provide the firmware upgrade (hereinafter referred to as program) to version 2.00 for the firmware of NW- E405/E407/E505/E507.

[Up-date issues]

? Added function(Upgrade)

・	”Clock2” is added to the Display Screens displayed during playback and stop.

	Clock2：The time is displayed.


*	For the display of Clock2 on the unit, it is necessary to select Clock2 and check the box on the menu mode of the unit (Display Screen).

? Improved issue

・	It may not function correctly when trying Search by artist name or Shuffle Repeat after selecting an artist.

*	This problem of the following products has already been improved.

	NW-E405：The products whose serial numbers are “5054081” or later
	NW-E407：The products whose serial numbers are “5037096” or later
	NW-E505：The products whose serial numbers are “1006596” or later
	NW-E507：The products whose serial numbers are “1035634” or later

	Or, it can be confirmed by the following procedure.

1.	Press and hold the SEARCH/MENU button for half a second in stop mode.
2.	Rotate the Shuttle switch to select “Advanced Menu>” and press the (PLAY/STOP) button to confirm.
3.	Rotate the Shuttle switch to select “Information>” and press the (PLAY/STOP) button to confirm.
4.	Confirm the serial number at [3:] by rotating the Shuttle switch.

[Target product]

The target product should be satisfied by the condition below.

・	Network Walkman NW-E405/E407/E505/E507 .
	The firmware version is 1.00 only

Please read carefully the following instructions to make sure to upgrade the firmware properly.

[Target PC environment]

・	Bundled software SonicStage Ver.3.0* with Network Walkman is installed..

*	Including the SonicStage upgraded from the former version to 3.1.

[Method to confirm version]

Please confirm the firmware version of Network WalkmanNW-E405/E407/E505/E507 from the steps below before download it.

1.	Press and hold the SEARCH/MENU button for half a second in stop mode.
2.	Rotate the Shuttle switch to select “Advanced Menu>” and press the (PLAY/STOP) button to confirm.
3.	Rotate the Shuttle switch to select “Information>” and press the (PLAY/STOP) button to confirm.
4.	Confirm the firmware version at [4:] by rotating the Shuttle switch.

Log on with the Administrator group account when installing this upgrade program.

Log on with Administrator user name when installing this upgrade program.

[Download Procedure]

Please follow the steps below to download the program.

	Set up the folder for storing the downloaded file on your hard drive. Assume the folder is named “WMFWUPG” and it is made in C drive.
	Download the following file which is suitable for your model on the folder selected at Step1. Model name; File name (File size) NW-E405/E407；NW-E40X_V2_0C.exe (2,239 KB) NW-E505/E507；NW-E50X_V2_0C.exe (2,239 KB)
	After the download is completed, select [Views]-[Details] in the Explorer to check the selected file size. If the size is not the same as the file size showing above, try to download the file again.

Click [I accept] below to download the update program after reading the instruction. It will bring a dialog box and begin the download. Follow the instructions in dialog box appearing on the screen.

[Up-date Procedure]

Once the download is finished, please follow the steps below to upgrade the program.

When upgrading, the Network Walkman is needed to have a free space about 3MB. Also, please transfer all tracks and data from the unit to the computer in advance because there is a possibility that it is lost when upgrading as the tracks and data are remained. We cannot guarantee in case the tracks and the data are damaged or deleted by this upgrade.

Quit all software.

*	If “Run SonicStage automatically when an ATRAC Audio Device is connected.” is set, please uncheck the check box from [Tools]-[Options]-[General].

Click [Start] button on the task bar and click “Run...”. The “Run...” dialog box will be open.

Input “C:\WMFWUPG\NW-E40X_V2_0C.exe” or “C:\WMFWUPG\NW-E50X_V2_0C.exe” in the “Open” text box and click [OK].

*	Please press [Run] button when the security warning is displayed.

Click [Unzip] button on the unzip dialog box and unzipping the file to the folder which is created at [Download Procedure] step 1.

*	It may not work correctly if decompressing it except “WMFWUPG” folder.

Executable file and associated files are decompressed in the following folder.

[WMFWUPG]-[ NW-E40X_V2_0C] or [WMFWUPG]-[ NW-E50X_V2_0C]

Press [Close] button in the decompression dialog and connect the unit which is supposed to be upgraded to the computer.

Click [Start] button on the task bar and select “Run...”. The “Run...” dialog box will be open.

Input “C:\WMFWUPG\ NW-E40X_V2_0C\FWUpdater.exe” or “C:\WMFWUPG\ NW-E50X_V2_0C\FWUpdater.exe” in the ”Open” text box and click [OK].

The program will be started.

Follow the message.

*	Please do not disconnect the USB cable during upgrading.
*	During upgrading, USB connection is automatically controlled and “USB Connect” indication is off with the control. Also, the USB disconnect message may appear on some computer.

When the message of completing upgrading is displayed, click [Finish] button.

[After Upgrade]

Please confirm the version when the upgrade program is installed successfully with following [Method to confirm version] steps.

The upgrade program installation is succeeded when “2.00” is shown on the screen.

If the version is different, please try the upgrade program following [Upgrade Procedure] again.

Sony Corporation reserves the right to amend this EULA at its sole discretion by indicating the amendment at the SONY Site or taking other appropriate measures. If you do not agree to the terms to be amended, which shall be notified to you by SONY before they take effect, you must return the SONY SOFTWARE with your SONY Portable Device and any other materials bundled in the package at the time of the purchase, together with any software you obtained from Sony Site for a pro-rated. Your continued use of the SONY SOFTWARE after notice shall be deemed agreement to be bound by such EULA amendment. SEVERABILITY If any part of this EULA is held invalid or unenforceable, the other parts will remain valid.
