World’s first
10x optical zoom in 3D (consumer camcorder)

Though commonly available in most conventional 2D camcorders, optical zoom is still a rare feature in 3D cameras. However, thanks to a sophisticated auto-adjustment technology, which is indispensable for correcting even the slightest misalignment (Figure 1) between the left and right lens especially at the tele-end (Figure 2), HDR-TD10 is equipped with a 10x optical zoom in 3D for users to zoom in and out freely in various scenes.

Figure1: Misalignment is unnoticeable at wide end

Figure2: Misalignment is magnified at tele end (without auto-adjustment)

Tips for 3D Shooting:

The optimum shooting distance for 3D is related to the zoom settings.

The approximated shooting distances for three different zoom settings are shown in the adjacent illustration, with 3D effect represented by the opacity of the blue region. Solid blue indicates optimum 3D effect while semi-transparent blue indicates a softer 3D effect.

The region in gray represents the range where subjects cannot be formed properly.

Optical SteadyShot (Active Mode) in 3D
Steady even while walking!

HDR-TD10 is equipped with Optical SteadyShot (Active Mode). When used at the wide end, correction angle is ten times greater than without Active Mode, enabling steady images even while walking.
