You can select ST, SP and LP recording modes.
Note The MSV file has three formats: for ICD-BM series, for ICD-S/MS5xx series, and for ICD-MS1. Although they have the same file extension, their compatibilities are limited. The MSV (LPEC) files for ICD-BM series cannot be played or edited on the ICD-S/MS5xx series/ICD-MS1 or the Digital Voice Editor 1.0/1.1/1.2/2.0/2.1. MSV file [LPEC: For ICD-S/MS5xx Series] (Memory Stick Voice file/file extension: *.msv) The MSV(LPEC) file is a sound file format used in recording messages on the Memory Stick IC recorder ICD-MS5xx and IC recorder ICD-S series. You can edit and play back the MSV(LPEC) files on the Digital Voice Editor, write them on the Memory Stick to be restored and played back on the Memory Stick IC recorder and IC recorder ICD-S series. You can select SP and LP recording modes.
Note The MSV file has three formats: for ICD-BM series, for ICD-S/MS5xx series, and for ICD-MS1. Although they have the same file extension, their compatibilities are limited. The MSV(LPEC) file for ICD-S/MS5xx series cannot be played or edited on the ICD-MS1 or the Digital Voice Editor 1.0/1.1/1.2. WAV file [auto conversion]/[44.1 kHz 16bit stereo]/[11 kHz 16bit monaural] (WAV file/file extension: *.wav) The WAV file is a PCM sound file used in recorded sound in standard Windows application software. You can play back a WAV file on Windows software such as the ÅgSound RecorderÅh or ""Windows Media Player"" supplied with Windows 98, Windows 2000, Windows Me or Windows XP. When saving or converting a file, you can select either format from an auto-conversion (8/11/16 kHz, 16 bit monaural or 44.1 kHz 16 bit stereo) WAV file, 11 kHz 16 bit WAV file for voice recognition, or 44.1 kHz 16 bit stereo sound WAV file. Usually, select the auto-conversion WAV file format. To use the file for voice recognition, select an 11 kHz 16 bit format. To burn a music CD disc with your CD-R drive, select the 44.1 kHz 16 bit stereo format. MP3 file (MP3 file [8/11/16/22/44.1 kHz monaural/stereo]/file extension: *.mp3 ) The MP3 file, short for MPEG-1 Layer 3 (Moving Pictures Expert Group), stores digital audio such as sounds or songs and is commonly used to distribute it over Internet. The file is compressed with little loss in sound quality. You can play back an MP3 file using an MP3 player. You can view the MP3 files in the PC message list in the Digital Voice Editor. An MP3 file displayed in the PC message list can be played back on your computer. ->Handling an MP3 file
Notes When an MP3 file is added to the IC recorder or Memory Stick, it is converted to the file type that meets the destination IC recorder type. You cannot add an MP3 file as it is without conversion. You cannot save a message in the MP3 file format.
ICS file (Sony IC recorder Sound file/file extension: *.ics) The ICS file is Sony's original sound file format used in recording messages on the IC recorder ICD-R100. The Digital Voice Editor Ver. 2 does not support an ICS file. To use an ICS file with the Digital Voice Editor Ver. 2, use the software compatible with the ICD file format such as "Sony ICD-PCLINK software", "Digital Voice Editor Ver. 1.x", or "ICS Converter" to convert an ICS file into a WAV file.
The ICS Converter is available on the Sony web site as free software. |
| | | | Is it possible to convert a voice file format recorded by IC Recorder?
| A2: | Yes, it is possible.
The table below shows the compatibilities in converting and saving a file. When you convert or save a file in a file type of a different sound compression format, the file is re-compressed, degrading the sound quality. In some conversions, the recorded date data of the original file may be lost or changed. The table also shows which WAV file type an original file will be converted when you select the [WAV (auto-conversion)] as save as type. Note You cannot save or convert a file in an MP3 file format. |
