After transferring a playlist by the applicable software, I disconnect the player from my computer. However, "Connecting USB (MTP)" message does not disappear.

Songs are played back within a limited range, such as within one album.

If the playback range setting (Home menu - (Settings) - [Music Settings] - [Playback Range]) is set to [Selected Range], the player plays back songs only in the lists from which the playback starts (album list, artist list, etc).
When you want to playback repeatedly, select [All Range].

To transfer AAC or video files, you need to transfer by using Windows Media Player 11.
Install Windows Media Player 11 from the Windows Media Player download site, then transfer files again.

I transferred release year assigned songs to the player. However, the songs are categorized in release year "Unknown" group.

If you drag and drop the songs by Windows Explorer, it can occur that the release years cannot be displayed properly. If it occurs, transfer the songs by Windows Media Player 11* to the player.

I connect the player to my computer, but "(MTP)" is not displayed. Therefore, I cannot transfer the copyright protected WMA files.

To transfer the copyright protected WMA files, the player must be recognized as an MTP * device by the computer.
To be recognized as an MTP device, the following conditions are required:
OS: Windows XP Service Pack 2 or later
Application: Windows Media Player 11
If the player is not recognized as the MTP device, follow the below instructions.
(In the case of Windows XP)
1. Check if the OS is Windows XP Service Pack2 or later, and Windows Media Player 11 is installed.
* You can install Windows Media Player 11 Windows Media Player 11 from the Windows Media Player download site.
2. Connect the player to the computer.
3. From the computer, select [start] - [Control Panel] - [Performance and Maintenance] - [System].
"System Properties" is displayed.
4. Select [Hardware] tab, and open [Device manager].
5. Open [Universal Serial Bus controllers], and select [USB Mass Storage Device] or [WALKMAN NWZ-XXXXX].
6. Select [Action] - [Update Driver ...] from the menu bar.
"Welcome to the Hardware Update Wizard" is displayed.
7. A dialog on Windows Update connection will be displayed. Select [No, not this time.], followed by [Next].
8. Select [Install from a list or specific location [Advanced]], followed by [Next] for the hardware install method.
9. Select [Don't search. I will choose the driver to install.], followed by [Next] for the search and install option.
10. Check [Show compatible hardware], and then select [MTP Device] in the model list, followed by [Next].
The device driver is installed.
11. "Completing the Hardware Update Wizard" message is displayed, and confirm "MTP Device" message. Click [Finish].

No files were transferred but the actual memory capacity is less than the capacity in the specifications. Why is that so?

It is because a portion of the memory is used for data management function. Therefore, the user available capacity is less than the capacity in the specifications.

- NWZ-A846: 32 GB (Approx. 28.5 GB = 30,699,978,752 bytes)

The AVLS which is function to limit the maximum volume to prevent auditory disturbance or distraction may be enabled.
Disable the AVLS.

The Noise Canceling function does not work properly.

Check the followings.
- Select [ON] of the Noise Canceling function setting.
- Connect the supplied headphones to the unit properly. To enjoy the better sound quality, adjust the earbuds' position to sit on your ears comfortably or push them into your ears so they fit snugly.
- You may feel that the Noise Canceling function does not work or noise is louder in a quiet environment. Also, you may feel it depend on the noise type.

After executing "Safety remove USB device" with my computer, the player still displays "Connecting."

If you are using Windows Vista, after executing "Safety remove USB device," the player still displays "Connecting." However, you can disconnect the player from your computer safely.

Please rename the file names with appropriate characters by using softwares used for transfer or Windows Explore.

The unit supports music playlists only.
Transferred playlists with both music and video files cannot be played on the unit.

"Connecting" or "Connected USB (MTP)" does not appear when connected to the computer.

Please connect the player to the computer after setting the player to "USB Connection Mode." The steps to set the player to "USB Connection Mode" are as follows:
From the Home menu, please select "Settings" - "Common Setting" - "USB Connection Mode."
"Use when USB connection cannot be established. Use this mode?" appears.
Please select "Yes."
The player enters USB connection standby mode, displaying the USB connection standby screen. Please connect the player to the computer.
If you could not solve the problem after setting the player to "USB Connection Mode," please check the followings as well:
- The USB cable may not be connected to a USB port on your computer properly. Please disconnect the USB cable, and then reconnect. In case there are several USB ports on your computer, please try to connect to another USB port.
- Connecting the player via a USB hub may not work. Please connect the player directly to your computer using the supplied USB cable.
- The software authentication may be performed and it may take rather a long time. Please wait for a while.
- The computer is running another software other than the one used for transferring. Please disconnect the USB cable, wait a few minutes, and reconnect it.
- Activate Windows Media Player, or Windows Explore.
If the problem persists, please restart the computer. |

The player does not operate normally.

Charge the unit fully by connecting to a running computer.
If the charged unit does not operate normally, press the RESET button with a small pin such as a paper clip longer than one second to reset the player.

Note:
If you press the RESET button while operating the player, stored data and settings on the player may be deleted. |

Please set the Screen Off Timer to the longest [After 30 Min] with the following steps:
