Sony has recently discovered the following issue with regard to its DVD Writer, VRD-MC5 (JE). A DVD disc which was recorded with some of VRD-MC5 cannot be played back on some playback devices such as Blu-ray Disc recorders/players.

Sony will replace such an applicable DVD Writer free of charge subject to the procedures provided below. Please follow the following procedures in order to have your product replaced, if you possess an applicable product.

For those who have discs that were recorded with the applicable product, Sony will, upon request and receipt of the discs, gladly provide duplicated discs with playback improvement under our designated conditions (please refer to [Regarding the Request for Duplication of a Recorded Disc] at the end).

We apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused and your kind understanding and cooperation would be much appreciated.

【Symptom】
There is a possibility that a DVD disc recorded with an applicable DVD Writer may not be played back on a player such as Blu-ray Disc player/recorder. (VRD-MC5 is a recording device, and cannot playback recorded contents.)

The symptom may be observed regardless of media type, picture quality (HD/SD), recording mode, original recording device or connection method.

Please accept the followings when you request us for the duplication:

・	The recorded footage in your disc may be played back and viewed by us.
・	Our duplication work will be excused if we find violation of copyright, moral hazard or any other issues which might be suspected of violation of laws in the record.
・	We have no liability for any defect or loss of the recorded footage. We recommend you to make backup copies of disc contents prior to your shipment to us.
